BAIE D’URFÉ

> iNaturalist Event

* The 2023 Greater Montreal City Nature Challenge is approaching, and Baie d’Urfé encourages its residents to participate. Take photos of local flora or fauna and upload them to the iNaturalist application or website. This international event is supported by the Canadian Wildlife Federation and iNaturalist.ca. All observations and species uploaded between Friday, April 28th and Monday, May 1st in the Greater Montreal area will be saved by the iNaturalist.ca platform and will add to the ranking of Montreal’s biodiversity in Canada and internationally.

* Learn about the Canadian income tax system, why we pay taxes, tax deductions versus tax credits, preparing and filing a tax return, where to get help, making plans for refunds/benefits, and available resources. This workshop is part of a series of tax workshops offered by CPA Canada.

* Spring collection of domestic hazardous waste.

Where: Beaconsfield High School parking lot, 250 Beaurepaire Blvd.

Good to know: Put HHW items in the trunk of your vehicle, ensuring that each product is stored separately (no bulk), in a waterproof container. For example, pool chlorine must be kept separate from other products. Turn off your engine and stay in your vehicle. If you must give information to employees, remain inside your vehicle. * Le Nichoir presents a bilingual workshop on the patterns and colours of birds and their significance.

> WIBIT Day — Easter Week at the Dorval Aquatic and Sports Complex

* Enjoy a giant inflatable game on the water during Easter week.

> Cabaret Night — Satellite

* Geneviève Racette performs music from her recent album, Satellite, a collection of nine songs that address the cycle of love. Guided by her voice, instrumentation, and vocal harmonies, we travel from love, to grief, to healing, to forgiveness, and finally back to love again.

> Hazardous Household Waste Collection

* Spring collection of domestic hazardous waste. Dorval residents can drop off any ICT waste (computers, screens, printers, televisions, radios, cellphones, etc.), HHW (paint, oils, antifreeze, aerosols, etc.), and polystyrene items (foam or hard plastic, coloured or transparent). A document-shredding service will also be offered.

When: Saturday, April 15 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Parking lot of Ballantyne Park, 520 Bouchard Blvd., Dorval.

Good to know: Only domestic waste will be accepted. Waste from industries, businesses, and institutions will be refused. Proof of residency required.


HUDSON

> Coffee with the mayor

Enjoy a cup of coffee with Mayor Chloe Hutchison to discuss issues of concern in an informal setting.

> Concert: Souś le ciel de Paris — Rita Tabbakh

* Known for her charisma and beautiful voice, Rita Tabbakh, singer of Lebanese and Acadian origins, performs the greatest hits of Aznavour, Piaf, Dalida, Brel, Bécaud, Dassin, Gainsbourg, Barbara, Trenet and others, punctuated with stories about the artists. Rita Tabbakh has appeared in several musicals, including Scheherazade, in which she played the title role. She also made a name for herself on the program La Voix 2 and in various musical revues.

>Beautiful film music from The Cobalt String Quartet

* The Cobalt Quartet (Guillaume Villeneuve, violin; Diane Bayard, violin; Clément Bufferne, viola; François Leclerc, cello) presents a program that combines cult-film music and musical theatre themes. From black and white to colour, and from pantomime to Hollywood productions, the music surrounds you with images of mythical themes revisited for a string quartet.

* A conference for teens, aged 12 to 17, on how to sprout seeds and grow microgreens indoors year-round. This workshop will also allow them to discover all of the ways they can incorporate microgreens in their daily diet. With Nevine Elchibini.

* Commercial household products don’t just affect your wallet; they can also affect your health. Making homemade household products is a simple, economical and sustainable process. > Show: Au temps des seigneuries

*  During the Middle Ages, the troubadour walked from town to town, playing his musical instruments to brighten people’s lives. Through historical anecdotes, multi-instrumentalist Philippe Gélinas, impersonating the troubadour, plays and tells the story of the life of the musicians of this great period. He offers young people the opportunity to discover the fascinating music and original sounds of medieval instruments: lute, sistrum, dulcimer, bowed fiddle, wooden flutes, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, etc.

> Launch of the Jardinothèque and conference

As part of the launch of the new Jardinothèque, Peter Meir, of the Société d’Horticulture et d’Environnement de Saint-Lazare, invites you to his lecture on seeds and seedlings. You will learn how to choose them properly by emphasizing the importance of their local and organic origin.He will share his experiences on growing vegetable, herb and flower plants. Lighting, temperature, substrate, sowing, watering, transplanting, plant maintenance and acclimatization will be some of the topics he’ll discuss. For beginners and experienced gardeners.

> Earth Day celebrations

* A series of events is planned for Earth Day, including a workshop by resident Alison Hackney (noon to 1 p.m.) on how to identify local native trees. (Take binoculars and dress comfortably for this activity, which begins at the community centre). There will also be a workshop by Elena Bennett (2 p.m. to 3 p.m.) on carbon emissions and how to sequester them by growing trees. A workshop by Wendy Tillet will focus on alternative sustainable household products (2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

VAUDREUIL-DORION

> Explore the planet with Pierre-Luc

* Pierre-Luc Côtéloves to explore the planet. In this “round-the-world” conference designed for young adventurers, he will present his favorite travel experiences and the most extraordinary stories he has experienced around the world.

> The Little Monsters

* This children’s production, titled Petits Monstres, features puppets and a fable with an ecological touch and themes of difference and sharing. Presented by Théatre Tortue Berlue.
