BAIE d’URFÉ

> Summer concerts are back.  

* The free outdoor concerts will be held rain or shine. Arrive early to reserve your spot.

BEACONSFIELD

> Best practices in birding

* Get advice on birding from experts in the field. Become a better birder with help from a facilitator from Le Nichoir, and learn about the best time to watch birds as well as which techniques and equipment to use. Bilingual workshop for adults.

When: July 13 — 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Where: Centennial Park, 288 Beaconsfield Blvd. 

Good to know: In case of rain: activity will be held indoors. Registration required via Eventbrite.

> Breaking!

A bilingual activity for the whole family. A mixture of dance, breaking, hip hop moves in collaboration with Break City. Parents or guardians must participate with their children.

When: July 19 — 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Where: Centennial Park, 288 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield.

Good to know: Free. In case of rain, the activity will be held at the Recreation Centre. Registration required via Eventbrite.

> Happy hour by the water: Fiesta Latina

* Introducing a new festive format for summer concerts. In addition to music, there will be entertainers, dancing, food trucks and a mobile bar. Starting at 5 p.m.: Entertainment and food (Le Chef Sanglier Mexicain). Starting at 5:30 p.m.: Latin dance class – Free dance with Marc Mitchell. Starting at 7 p.m.: Show – Yordan & the Cuban Martinez Show.

When: July 21 — 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Centennial Park, 288 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield.

DOLLARD DES ORMEAUX

> Cultural Fridays – Spooky Ride

* Spooky Ride is an acoustic project by Pascal Richard that brings together some of Quebec’s finest instrumentalists. You will hear original acoustic pieces that embrace bluegrass, jazz and Americana, a  show featuring finesse and virtuosity.

When: July 8 at 7 p.m.

Where: The garden of the Dollard-des-Ormeaux library, 12001, De Salaberry Blvd., 
Dollard-des-Ormeaux.

Good to know: Free admission. Take your own chair. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Civic Centre Banquet Hall.

> Inauguration of new outdoor exercise equipment

This event will take place at Centennial Park. Discover and learn how to use the equipment with fitness instructors who will be on site. Refreshments and healthful snacks will be offered. Please note that the equipment is for people aged 13 years and over. It is also accessible to users with reduced mobility.

When: July 4 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Where: The back entrance of Centennial Park, behind the Community Centre of the Civic Centre.

Good to know: This event is free and takes place rain or shine. Parking is available at P2 of the Civic Centre.


DORVAL

> Summer concert: Baby Boomer’s Band

The Baby Boomer’s Band performs the best of the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. Listen to the hits of The Beach Boys, Chubby Checker, Neil Sedaka, Elvis Presley, The Temptations, Paul Anka, The Four Seasons, James Brown, Chuck Berry, The Stray Cats, and many more. Close your eyes and let the amazing vocal harmonies wash over you, and get ready to dance and relive those beautiful days.

When: July 4, at 7:30 p.m.


Where: Pine Beach Park, Ch. du Bord-du-Lac/Lakeshore Rd., near Pine Beach Blvd.

> Summer concert: The Blue Mondays Jazz Orchestra

* The Blue Mondays Jazz Orchestra is a large jazz ensemble formed in early 2019 with a mission to present popular American music of the 1920s with today’s audiences. The band pays homage to the Buddy Rich Big Band and the Count Basie Orchestra, and cover songs you’ve heard through the unforgettable voices of such artists as Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. Attending a concert by this ensemble is feeling the energy of its 16 musicians and experiencing firsthand the power and finesse of trumpets, trombones, and saxophones propelled by a dynamic rhythm section. 

When: July 11 at 7:30 p.m.

HUDSON

> Hey Viola!

* Hudson Village Theatre presents Hey Viola!, a production in which Vancouver songstress and performer Krystle Dos Santos—with the support of local musicians Chris Davis, Steven Charles, and Mary Ancheta—brings the life of Viola Davis to the stage using the dynamic and inspirational music that filled the home of this civil rights trailblazer. The musical format enriches the telling of her amazing story, an important Canadian story.

> Traditional tea

* Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea in the garden at the Greenwood Centre for Living History. Homemade finger sandwiches, baked goods and a pot of tea will be served in style throughout the property. 

When: July 24 — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Greenwood Centre for Living History, 254 Main Rd., Hudson.

Good to know: Tickets for this event must be purchased in advance, and space is limited. Greenwood will be open for visits. Purchase tickets ($25.00 per person) at Que de Bonnes Choses (484-B Main Rd, Hudson).


KIRKLAND

> Confiture, the Dragon Who Loved Fruits

  • * Presented by Théâtre de la Source, this interactive show combines Indian dance, fabulous characters and delicious food to the delight of children and those who accompany them!

When: July 17 from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

Where: Canvin Park, Cambridge St., Kirkland.

PIERREFONDS-ROXBORO

> M. Gazon et sa pelouse mobile

Unforgettable moments filled with the mimics of Mr. Sod, under a profusion of balls, bowling pins, knives, unicycles, fire torches and many other inspirations of the moment. At the wheel of his tiny electric car and to the sound of lively music, Mr. Sod redefines the laws of physics in his own way. His uncommon ability to capture attention and surprise young and old alike allows him to guide the audience on a journey filled with unforgettable moments. > Le fils du Diable – Marc Angers et ses musiciens

* After having conquered audiences throughout Quebec, Ontario, at the Festival acadien de Caraquet and in Orlando, Florida, the band will be in Pierrefonds-Roxboro to ignite the public with the sound of the fiddle, accordion and piano that blend with the rhythms of Irish jigs, Scottish reels and Cajun music. Musicians Marc Angers, Rob Langlois and Hugo St-Laurent.  

When: July 13 —7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Cloverdale Park, Basswood St., Pierrefonds-Roxboro.

PINCOURT

> Mondays in the park

All summer, get to know your neighbours and your neighborhood parks. Every Monday, follow the entertainment team from park to park. July 4: Souvenir Park / July 11: Bellevue Park — Musical performance by the children of Ensemble de violoncelles do Montreal / July 18: Taillon Park: Musical performance by Duo Atemporel, guitar-flute instrumental music / July 25: Suroit Park. 

When: Mondays, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Good to know: No reservations required. Maximum capacity on site to be respected.
You may have to wait for people to leave the site to be admitted.


POINTE-CLAIRE

> The Lorraine Desmarais Trio plays Bill Evans

* Bill Evans profoundly revolutionized jazz piano and the trio formation. A subtle performer and inspired composer, Evans integrated the harmonic colours of French impressionists Debussy, Fauré and Ravel into his playing. The Lorraine Desmarais Trio musicians are thrilled to recreate their favourite Bill Evans pieces. (Lorraine Desmarais: piano; Frédéric Alarie; double bass; Camil Bélisle: drums).

> The M3G Trio plays the music of Ennio Morricone

* The Montreal guitar trio of Glenn Lévesque, Sébastien Dufour and Marc Morin, has established itself as a leader in the renewal and interactions between various musical forms. For more than 20 years, the virtuosity of the musicians, their inventiveness and their stage presence have captivated audiences around the world.

When: July 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Stewart Hall Park, 176 Lakeshore Rd., Pointe-Claire.

Good to know: Take your own chair. Or rent one for $2; proceeds go to Friends of Stewart Hall. In case of rain, the event will take place indoors at Stewart Hall Cultural Centre.

> Neighbourhood Market

*  The Neighbourhood Market in Pointe-Claire is a non-profit produce market whose goal is to make fruits and vegetables from West Island farms affordable and accessible to all.  The market accepts cash, debit, credit and the Carte Proximité. All prices are suggested, meaning shoppers who may need to pay a bit less can, and those who can pay more can round up their bill. Shoppers who pay more than the suggested price create a balance so their neighbours can pay less. The market is operational every second Wednesday from July 6 to October 12.

When: July 6 and July 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  

Where: The parking lot of the Bob Birnie Arena, 58 Maywood Ave., Pointe-Claire.


SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE

> Salsa by the water

* Move to the beat of Latin music. Baila Productions presents salsa sessions on the canal promenade, where you can burn off energy and enjoy breathtaking views.

> Line dancing evenings

* Every Thursday from June 30 to September 8, join Nathalie Blais, line dancing instructor for a line dancing class. Get in shape to the sound of music.

SAINT-LAZARE

> Ancolie, outdoor show

* Folk duo Ancolie, composed of Anik Bérubé and Natalie Byrns, musicians and friends who perform their own feel-good songs, will perform. With a mix of soothing acoustic instruments and harmonious voices, Ancolie performs with tenderness and serenity.

When: July 7 at 7 p.m.

Where: 1530 Rue Poirier, Saint-Lazare.

> Comedy night up-and-comers

* Comedians Serge-Yvan Bourque, Liliane Blanco Binette, Charles-Olivier St-Cyr and Josiane Aubuchon take to the stage for stand-up comedy.

When: July 21 at 7 p.m.

Where: 1530 Rue Poirier, Saint-Lazare.


 SENNEVILLE

> Concert in the park

Orchestre à vent du Suroît will perform, featuring a selection of original pieces for wind band on the theme “the joy of music.” All are invited to celebrate the end of the pandemic and the sanitary restrictions, to revel in the renewed pleasure of being able to play together again, to gather and share, in a festive spirit. The Orchestre à Vents du Suroît is an instrumental wind ensemble from the Montérégie region that brings together some 40 professional, semi-professional and advanced amateur musicians from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

When: July 22 — 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Senneville Park, 20 Morningside Ave., Senneville.

Good to know: Take your picnic and your chairs to the park.


VAUDREUIL-DORION

> Une soirée aux jardins: Marie-Annie Pascale Guertin

* Seasoned singer Marie-Anne Pascale Guertin presents the Just Brel show. She has performed internationally. Take your chair.

> Les Rythmes d’été: Fwonte

* Fwonte has a unique sound that blends traditional Haitian music with electronic and hip hop genres. He has released a series of three albums/EPs and returns with the release of his new album, recorded in London and Montreal, Danse avec mes demons. See his performance at the Maison Parc Valois.
